The Neighbourhood Christian Community (NCC) has a vision to bring an authentic personal experience of the Lord to all parish community members so they can evangelise and bear witness to the Risen Lord.  The NCC is the foundation of the universal Catholic Church; bringing together, a group of Catholics living in the same neighbourhood, and coming together as a community to live and share their faith with one another through prayer, worship, service, fellowship and mission.

The objective of an NCC is to help people within the community grow their faith, live the Gospel in their daily lives and foster Christian love and support for one another in times of need.

The importance and characteristics of a NCC were aptly emphasized by the late Pope John Paul II. "The Church as Family cannot reach all her possibilities as Church unless she is divided into communities small enough to foster close human relationships."

The characteristics defining such communities are:

  • Engaging in evangelising themselves, so that subsequently they can bring the Good News to others
  • Be communities which pray and listen to God’s Word
  • Encourage members to take responsibility and to learn to live as a Church
  • Reflect on all problems and differences in the light of the Gospel
  • Be committed to living Christ’s love for everybody, a love which transcends the limits of the natural solidarity of clans, tribes or other interest groups.”

Pope John Paul II, Apostolic Exhortation
“ Ecclesia in Africa” 1995

The NCC is a priority of both the Archdiocese and our parish.

Open to all parishioners, we encourage you to participate in the activities of an NCC. Do check out which NCC you belong to based on this NCC map. You can also refer to the custom Google Map here.
