20150209 LessFortunateBefrienders’ Group – Church of the Holy Family

The Befrienders’ group was formed in Sep 2014 with 22 members who went through an Orientation and Training Programme.

Our Mission is to reach out to the vulnerable, elderly and wheelchair bound residents by befriending them, and bringing the love of Christ to them. We began our home visits with residents in the Marine Parade Neighbourhood Christian Community (NCC) precincts - Marine Drive, Marine Crescent and Marine Terrace.

Presently, we have 11 Groups of two befrienders each who meet residents in our respective precincts twice monthly. We also make follow up calls to keep us updated of their progress.

We hope as befrienders, to bring cheer, friendship and Christ’s Love to these less fortunate residents.  A journey that takes us closer to the less privileged is one that brings us closer to Jesus.

Social activities for our beneficiaries and ongoing Training for Befrienders are part of this year’s programme. Our social activities include a get-together among, the residents and our Befrienders with a “Praise and Worship with Fellowship service. We are also looking to have external trainers to provide caregiver training on palliative care and dementia to the befrienders, this year.
