The Ministry to the Sick began operating, during the period 1990 to 1991.  Fr. John Van Dich started it, with the aim of carrying on the mission of Christ on Earth as his hands and feet. We enable the sick to nourish themselves spiritually through listening to the word of God, personal prayer and receiving the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist.

About 14 of us meet on the second Tuesday every alternate month. Our desire to serve comes from the words of Christ himself: ” I was sick and you visited me.” We are honoured to be his instruments in this important pastoral responsibility.  We see Christ's image in each of the sick bowed in suffering for others.

We experience many heart warming and memorable moments. The heart-felt gratitude, smiles, kind words of those who are ill, whom we tend to are Christ's hundred-fold blessings on us.

Bringing Christ in Holy Communion to the sick every week is an all-absorbing activity since each of us has around 8 different homes on an average to visit. We have an annual retreat and a Commissioning service together with the Eucharistic Ministers once a year, all part of renewal and rejuvenating our ministry.
