The Legion of Mary dates back to March 1949.
Its aim is to encourage members to glorify God through prayer and devotion. With the ecclesiastical guidance of Mary and co operation of the members, the group helps one another in advancing their Christian faith. It may be a small group with only nine members but size does not matter because our devotion is so fervent. Wee are inspired by Mary in her love and faith in GOD, and we try and reach out to others by our faith too.
We lead the rosary prayers in church and at wakes. As We, teach catechism to children and adults, we assist the priests in their mission in the East Coast district by collecting census information, teaching catechism to home- bound catechumens and visiting the sick parishioners both at home and in hospitals. We also liaise with them on their requests for communion.
Our members visit the sick in hospitals and make home visits to the elderly, the lonely and depressed. We organise retreats for new converts.
During our recruitment drive, we set up a book barrow or a portable bookstall in the church compound at which parishioners are given religious books and rosaries for free.
