Father Johnson Fernandez started the Family Life Ministry (FLM) in 1988 with a pioneer group of 6 couples from our Parish.
Our aim as defined in our Mission Statement is to : Provide service and support towards creating a family centered community founded on Christian values.”

Our core activities are the Wedding Services and Infant Baptism serving the Sacraments of Marriage and Baptism.

Other services include Mass, for Wedding Anniversaries  (MWA) presenting Family -Themed talks in collaboration with other ministries, holding Annual Retreats for members, monthly meetings, regular prayer meetings, and canteen duties for the preparation and sale of food items, etc.

We have 13 core members in the main committee, 8 sub committee members and additional helpers drafted on an ad hoc basis to serve at individual events.

The main committee members meet once a month. Additionally, we meet for monthly prayer sessions and hold extra meetings dictated by the needs of the featured events, for example the MWA event might require a series of 4 / 6 meetings to enable planning.

Sub committee members of the Wedding Services and Infant Baptism wings have at least one preparation meeting with the wedding couples or parents of the infants before the actual event. Rehearsals are also required.

We serve because we love our own families and we find joy in spreading this love. There are many memorable moments in the FLM. The annual MWA's hold special memories, many of these events are full of anticipation, the joy of working and spending time together, spontaneous giving and receiving of joy is contagious. The MWA has the tendency to bring out the best in us.

Happy memories can also be found in many of the wedding ceremonies, or the simple sharing during Baptism preparation session when a parent is particularly touched by what someone said. Retreats can end in reconciliation between spouses or members.

In 2014, at our year-end gathering we shared potluck dishes thanks to our generous host, Gwen Andres and enjoyed a strong fellowship.
