As Catechetics our ministry provides catechesis for children on their journey of faith. Our aim is to develop in them a loving and special relationship with God and to live their lives in the path of Jesus Christ. We prepare children and teenagers to receive the sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, First Holy Communion and Confirmation.
This we do with the help and support of 45 catechists and about 20 parent volunteers.

Our catechism sessions take place on Saturdays for the 7 to 12 year olds and on Sundays for the 13 to 16 year olds.  Lessons are held in a fun way.  Through the introduction of games and play, the lessons are interactive allowing our children to participate actively.

Twice a year we observe ‘A Day of Recollection.  There is a yearly Annual General Meeting (AGM). We also host a Commissioning Mass and Dinner.

Many of us choose to be catechists to serve the Lord and the Parish. It’s a mission that gives us immense satisfaction as we provide stewardship to the children and teens in their Journey of Faith. It works both ways, as we in turn learn a lot from the children as they express themselves and ask us thought provoking and spiritual questions. Seeing our children being baptised or receiving the sacraments and knowing we were a big part of their journey is fulfilling.
