The Canteen Ministry was started in 1995. The current team took over the reins in 2010. Comprising the A and B teams, there are 8 cooks in the group.
The teams love cooking and thought, “What better way to serve in our church than to provide home cooked food for the parishioners of our church. “
All of us love to eat and we bond over food when we meet.
We started out with about 8 to ten members, but currently we have about 13 members. Our meetings are usually held once a month on the second Sunday of the month. The meetings often begin with a prayer and our members enjoy a great camaraderie. The team believes in getting a consensus whenever it decides on ideas and suggestions on canteen matters.
Our members always try and look at the funny side of things and we laugh at ourselves often. We work well together, have a lot of fun and have a great fellowship with one another and the parishioners whom we serve.
ON 23 November, 2014, we held our Day of Recollection and invited our Filipino friends to join us. We focused on forgiveness, discipleship and hospitality, with Rev Fr. Eugene a Redemptorist who served as our retreat master.
