The Altar Servers Society plays an important role in the parish. The society was formed in December 1999. The motto of the society is: To serve and not be served.
Since, the formation of the society, these young men, all volunteers who have chosen to serve, have been assisting the priests of the parish during mass and at special services. Currently there are about 70 altar servers who help out in the church.
Leaders within the society train new altar servers on how to serve at mass as well as during special occasions such as High Mass and Easter.
There is camaraderie amongst members as they meet often while serving at mass. The Society however, meets at least once a month to discuss preparations for upcoming masses and training sessions.
Altar servers also organise activities such as camps, Family Day and Soccer Sundays. Through these activities, a sense of brotherhood is inculcated in the boys as they are given opportunities to bond. These activities are funded by their annual Fund-Raising Drive, at which they sell items such as Brownies as well as umbrellas.
